Program overview

The GO-FOR-GOLD program was launched in Sierra Leone in 2025 and offers one of the fastest routes to obtaining citizenship on the African continent. The program is designed for foreign investors interested in the West African market who wish to obtain a second passport without relocating to another country.

Applicants can choose between two routes: an investment starting from USD 140,000, or an investment starting from USD 100,000 for applicants with proven African ancestry. The process is completed remotely, takes from 3 months, and does not require residence in the country.

Applicants may also invest in gold, obtain permanent residence, and later apply for citizenship by naturalisation after meeting the statutory residence requirements.

  • Type of investment: Non-refundable contribution to the national development fund
  • Tax regime: Foreign-sourced income is not subject to taxation, and automatic exchange of financial account information with other jurisdictions is not carried out
  • Family members: The application may include a spouse, children under 18, and parents who are financially dependent on the applicant
  • Residence requirement: Not applicable

What citizenship gives you

Capital diversification

Under the program, funds are invested into the national economy, including gold. This makes Sierra Leone a potential jurisdiction for accessing growing markets.

Protection in times of instability

Second citizenship provides an expanded set of rights and the ability to relocate quickly to another jurisdiction if political, economic, or personal circumstances require it.

Status for family members

The program allows the applicant to include a spouse, children, and parents. Citizenship can be passed on to future generations, strengthening long-term security for the family.

Visa-free travel opportunities

Sierra Leone passport holders can access 67 countries visa-free or through simplified entry procedures, including India, Malaysia, and Singapore.

ECOWAS and Africa

Sierra Leone citizens have residence rights across 15 ECOWAS member states, including Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal. This provides direct access to major West African markets.

Asian jurisdictions

A Sierra Leone passport can support access to business opportunities in developed Asian jurisdictions such as Hong Kong and Singapore. This may be of interest to entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals involved in international trade.

European direction

Although Sierra Leone does not have visa-free access to European countries, citizenship obtained through an investment program and a successful due diligence review may have a positive impact when applying for visas to developed jurisdictions.

As a result, a Sierra Leone passport provides strategic access to African markets, commercial integration within ECOWAS, and expanded international mobility.
